Who’s making home-made fireworks?
Don’t blow yourself up this weekend. That would be Tragically hilarious .

Lot’s of people make their own fireworks. In most cases, you do not even need a special license to do so (under a certain equivalent amount of black powder, if I remember correctly). I used to dabble back in college. Here is a very good resour ce: https://www.skylighter.com/
As always, use a safety first mindset and read up on best practices before embarking on any inherently dangerous hobby or activity.

Wait, #4 said “Never look down a mortar tube. ”
I was legitimately concerned that some US citizens had the really explodey,
Band of Brothers
kind of mortars.
I am also stupid from time to time ( some of you may wonder how I have the intelligence to live at all ) and it took me a minute to realize that fireworks use mortar tubes.
Anyway , I hope all of my American o ppos enjoy themselves over your holiday, hopefully you get Friday off as well since a four day weekend feels so good.

Those were worse than Ronny Dahl’s.

I’m not saying I’ve made sparkler bombs the size of an old metal trash can b efore. And they definitely didn’t produce a conclusive blast that you could feel from 300 ft away, and light up the night sky like day.

Even if they aren’t military mortars...its seems the kind of thing that doesn’t need to be said. But then again, the 5 firework deaths last year were from trying to launch a mortar off a body so...

Pro tip - if you’re going to aim fireworks at people, use Roman candles. They don’t travel as fast and are easier to dodge.
Er, um, so I’ve heard.

Welp I'm inspired. Time to go dumpster diving for mannequins at Sears.

I have a children’s book from the 50s/60s that teaches you how to make your own.

Don’t look down the fireworks tube? Srsly?
I had to answer questions to register my first firearm in California and they were questions like, “True or False: It’s a good idea to shoot a gun in the air to celebrate because you’re not pointing at anybody.”

I didn’t do something rowdier than you didn’t do: when I wasn’t in the Army, stationed in Louisiana, I didn’t pull ammo dump guard duty with a guy who was not my best friend one night. And I did not empty out half a dozen 50-cal rounds into an empty ammo can and I did not light it on fire. And when the impending 30-foot pillar of flame did not light the tree on fire, if any of this really had happened, I’d have been very fortunate indeed. Now, the truth of all this is that when you pulled ammo dump guard duty, merely having a match or a lighter inside the perimeter was enough to get you court-marshalled and sent to military prison. So I’d have never done anything this dumb.

Some of the best stories I've heard have been things that didn't happen in the army. Definitely not
